Jesus was a master story teller. Do you remember this one from Luke chapter 14?
“A man prepared a great feast and sent out many invitations. When the banquet was ready, he sent his servant to tell the guests, ‘Come, the banquet is ready.’ But they all began making excuses. One said, ‘I have just bought a field and must inspect it. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I have just bought five pairs of oxen, and I want to try them out. Please excuse me.’ Another said, ‘I now have a wife, so I can’t come.’
“The servant returned and told his master what they had said. His master was furious and said, ‘Go quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and invite the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’ After the servant had done this, he reported, ‘There is still room for more.’ So his master said, ‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.”
I feel like I know what the man who prepared the feast was going through. He had gone through all the trouble of preparing a great party and yet people made excuses as to why they couldn’t attend.
Our summer camp, Lift, launches on Monday and we have just a few spots that remain. I would hate for you to miss camp for some small reason that is really just an excuse. When people register at http://liveyouthchurch.com/lift2010 I automatically receive an email that says, “John Doe has registered for Lift 2010.”
I cannot express to you how excited I get when I see another email has come in. We are believing and expecting God to show up in a very real way next week. I know God wants to change lives for the better. I want you to join us and experience how incredible Jesus really is!
I’m praying and believing that my inbox and Lift 2010 will be full!
*Please help us fill the house by re-posting this and sharing the Lift 2010 link with others. God is about to do something big…
