Their is a certain energy that gets created when a room fills up with middle school, high school, and college-age students. Laughter, random conversation, and the occasional scream; it’s all music to my ears.

Yes, The Uprising has begun.

To clarify, The Uprising is the name of our eight week summer internship program. It also happens to be the name of our summer teaching series at Live Youth Church as well.

Pastor Shawn Seeley has done a fantastic job of organizing and rallying students to devote their summer to God. We kicked off The Uprising this past Wednesday and I can’t wait to see what God does in our students’ lives.

Nearly 50 students signed up to take part in The Uprising this summer (a record for us). The feeling of knowing that students and their parents are trusting you to aid in their spiritual development over the short Seattle summer months is both exciting and terrifying.

The fact that we have a great team helping makes all the difference. Our staff is gracious and patient as they help teach and train up our young people.

This internship is really at the core of what our youth ministry and church are all about. We want to intentionally grow young and pass on leadership to the next generation.

“We will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about his power and his mighty wonders.” (Psalm 78.4, NLT)

It’s going to be a fun ride, make sure to check back with me in eight weeks. I’m sure have at least a story or two to tell.
