162

You’ve heard, “It’s a marathon, not a sprint,” applied to countless situations in your life I’m sure.

Ministry is no different.

I prefer the baseball analogy though.

The baseball regular season is 162 games long.

The emphasis in the last sentence is on looooooong.

The lesson is simple.

Good baseball teams never let one win or loss define their season.

Why?

Because they understand that there’s another game tomorrow.

The same truth applies in ministry, business and most careers for that matter.

One sale cannot define your year.

One mistake doesn’t define you unless you never let it go.

In youth ministry, one big night or failed event does not define your success as a youth pastor.

Don’t let one great message or a real clunker get your mind off track.

Remember, it’s a long season.

And, there’s another game tomorrow.
