Now > Broke

I remember the conversation clearly.

It was painful and embarrassing and pivotal.

Something had to be done.

Stacey and I grew up in households that taught financial responsibility.

We knew the basics. We were homeowners. We didn’t have school debt. Yet, for some reason we were still struggling.

As the primary bill payer and leader of our family financially I was ticked off.

How did I let it come to this?

Why was debt hanging over our heads?

What were we going to do to change it?

Our pastors, Brian and Shari Dolleman had enrolled our entire church staff in Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, FPU for short.

We were ready. Excited to finally do something about our current situation.

Each week we learned more and were forced to make tough choices regarding our spending, saving and giving.

I’d be lying if I said it was easy. It wasn’t. It wasn’t fun.

Yet the outcome was exceedingly fun.

To live debt free and know you’re saving for the future is incredibly fun.

To spend money or go on vacation and not get a bill later is also fun.

My wife really deserves the credit for our financial turn around.

She led the way, strategized and even went back to work to help us get back on track.

The main point of all this is to encourage you that it can be done.

You may be in a tough spot right now. The debt may be piling up. There may seem like no way out, but today is the day.

Now is the time to do something about your situation.

Face it head on and make the necessary changes to go from red to black.

You can do it.

Do something today.
