Nolan Jacob Jones

Last Wednesday, July 24, 2013, Stacey and I welcomed our fourth child into the world.

Nolan Jacob Jones was born at 12:32 pm and weighed in at 6 lbs, 5 oz.

We are amazed at how good and gracious God has been to us. We are blessed beyond belief with four incredible kids.

Two girls. Two boys. Two parents. We’re living the adventure everyday.

Welcoming home a baby is very similar to the way God welcomes us in when we give him full control of our life.

He Gives Us His Name – Nolan has been given my name, two of them actually. In addition to Jones, Nolan also has my middle name Jacob. In fact all of our kids have a family name in addition to their last name.

God does the same thing with you and me.

God is love. It’s his defining feature. God = Love.

We are called his beloved, meaning loved. Literally, God has given us a new name, his name.

The one who is LOVE has called you LOVED.

We are LOVED.

“I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love… No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8.38, 39, NLT)

Blessed with an Inheritance – While the pile of cash waiting for Nolan and his siblings isn’t huge, it’s still there and available for all four of our kids.

Everything we have is theirs. Every blessing Stacey and I receive (and there are many) belongs to them.

Our kids are blessed because of their association with us.

For those of us who call God our “Heavenly Father” we have quite an inheritance as well.

He’s the one, “who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing.” (Ephesians 1.3, NLT)

God, “richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment.” (1 Timothy 6.17, NLT)

There is no end to his inheritance either. The Bible calls it, “glorious & unlimited.” (Ephesians 3.16, NLT)

A Calling and a Purpose – So far Nolan is doing great in this department. He is living out his calling and purpose perfectly. He has brought incredible joy to our household. Watching our kids crowd around him is like magic.

In time Nolan will find his unique purpose. He will be a blessing to so many in his lifetime. He will be a source of inspiration to many people.

God has saved us and adopted us with a purpose in mind as well.

“All this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task…

…of reconciling people to him.” (2 Corinthians 5.18, NLT)

“We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2.10, NLT)

Welcome home Nolan Jacob.

You are LOVED.

You are BLESSED.

You are CALLED.

For those who are in Christ Jesus, God says the very same thing…

Welcome Home.
