Good Distractions

Stop texts stop wrecks. That’s the National Highway Travel Safety Administration’s current slogan.

Maybe you’ve heard the commercials before while driving… and it reminds you to put your phone down.

I certainly agree with the concept. It’s a corny slogan, but an important thing to try and stop.

Distracted driving is dangerous and deadly.

The truth is distraction sometimes gets a bad rap.

I think distraction can be incredibly helpful.

Prayer Tips from a “Pro”

I’ve never considered myself an expert on prayer.

For example, one time at a youth camp students were invited to come forward and pray at the altar.

As a student wanting to connect with God through prayer I stepped up and found a place to pray.

After a few moments I felt relaxed and rested; I was totally at peace.

Suddenly there was a tap on my shoulder. “Andy, Andy…” there was an urgency in the hushed whisper that woke me.

I wiped the drool from my mouth as my eyes struggled to adjust to the bright lights.

Two Dots Make a Big Difference

If you were to ask me what my favorite punctuation mark was (And why wouldn’t you? It’s a great conversation starter) my answer would be fast and simple.

I love the … aka the ellipsis, aka dot, dot, dot.

Really it’s my favorite punctuation by far (side note: the parenthesis is my second favorite).

The ellipsis is fantastic.

Depending on their context and placement in a sentence, ellipses indicate an unfinished thought, a slight pause, and nervous or awkward silence.

Ellipses are the ultimate cliffhanger.
